IRSA - International Rhythmic Studies Association -  is an organization dedicated to the sharing and dissemination of information and knowledge regarding the study of rhythm, particularly in regard to jazz, improvised, and other creative musics. The aim of the organization is to facilitate the sharing of this information by providing a resource which musicians can use to gain access to the latest work, study and research in this field.
IRSA headquarters is situated in the Souza Lima Conservatory of Music in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Each year the organization promotes a meeting in which invited participants get together to discuss recent developments in the world of rhythm, attend rhythm workshops, play together, and share information.
The 4th Annual IRSA Meeting, which takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 11-13, is taking shape and looks to be really interesting, as always. The meeting will give some of the world’s leading practitioners in the development of the rhythmic language of jazz and improvised music an opportunity to play together, try out new techniques and exchange ideas. As well as these informal playing sessions, there will also be workshops and formal presentations of new rhythmic ideas by some of the participants.
